Airoh and Autoliv: a collaboration for the first helmet concept with airbag

From the collaboration between the Italian brand specialized in the development of helmets Airoh e Autoliv, a company involved in automotive safety systems, was defined as the first Motorcycle helmet concept with integrated airbag. The specimen will be introduced on the occasion of the 79th edition of EICMA, the International Two Wheel Exhibition scheduled at Rho Fiera Milano between 8 and 13 November 2022.

The concept

Both realities are expected to EICMA 2022 and at the respective stands it will be possible to preview the helmet and the functionality of the airbag linked to the prototype.
This is a new partnership, which shapes a new and functional concept for motorcyclist safety. A collaboration with Airoh which highlights how the research conducted by Autoliv is important in the motorcycle industry.
For over two years the research and development laboratories of Airoh and Autoliv have been busy studying a helmet equipped with an airbag, capable of maximizing the safety of the wearer.
The design aims to significantly improve the protection of the motorcyclist, without the application of the airbag critically affecting the design, weight or comfort, according to the indications.
The project is inspired by the intuition of a young and brilliant engineering doctor, Roberta Descrovi. Studies at the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University were focused on the development of a motorcycle helmet equipped with a system capable of inflating in the event of an accident, to provide the rider with superior protection compared to that of current helmets.
