AirFlow 2 and Husqvarna Nuda 900 R win the “best of the best” red dot award

BMW Motorrad was awarded the annual "red dot" design award for the extraordinary quality of the design. Helmet AirFlow 2 and the motorbike Husqvarna Nuda 900 R. they are the proud winners of the coveted “best of the best” red dot award for the highest quality of design, while four other BMW motorcycles and scooters won the 2012 red dot award for high quality of design.

Launched in 1955, the red dot award has established itself as one of the most important design awards in the world. It rewards excellence in numerous sectors such as automotive, architecture, consumer electronics and fashion. This year a 30-member jury evaluated the design of more than 4.500 items, made by 1.800 manufacturers from 58 countries. Only a few have received the important red dot award and the winners will receive recognition at the gala ceremony which will be held on July 2nd at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany.

Recognizing the extraordinary quality of the design, this coveted award is awarded to products that stand out from the competition for their particular and winning design solutions. The AirFlow 2, a premium jet helmet, uses an exclusive and highly effective ventilation system that helps keep the motorcyclist cool. BMW designers focused on optimizing ventilation and air circulation, with large openings, positioned and shaped for better aerodynamics. Numerous ventilation channels inside the helmet help to evenly distribute the airflow around the head.

The visor, with anti-scratch coating, is mobile and can be opened until it fits inside the helmet. Furthermore, on both sides of the helmet, high-quality aluminum elements with the BMW logo complete the modern look and urban design of the product.

In addition to the awards mentioned above, winners of the red dot award for the high quality of the design are the two new Maxi-Scooters, C 600 Sport e C 650 GT – together with the single-cylinder G 650 GS and the six-cylinder K 1600 GT.
