Goodbye MotoGP: Suzuki leavesGoodbye MotoGP: Suzuki leaves

Suzuki goodbye for at least two years. The 2012 MotoGP season loses one of its protagonists. The Japanese company has put it in black and white: suspended "temporarily” participation in the world championship. The reason? Officially there are at least two. The “serious economic crisis” which led to the depreciation of the yen and reduced sales, and the “dramatic natural disasters” that hit Japan. The most significant was the earthquake-tsunami combination that struck the coasts of the Rising Sun, causing failures and malfunctions at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The most attentive observers will have noticed the first signs of difficulty some time ago: the abandonment of Alvaro Bautista (now with Gresini), the many silences, the halving of the number of motorbikes, the Aprilia test rider clothes worn by Randy De Puniet (now looking for a new team), theabandonment of the 1000cc engine and the simultaneous maintenance of the 800cc one.
However, the company of Osamu Suzuki and Hiroshi Tsuda is not a definitive departure from racing. The goal is to return to the track in 2014 with "a new competitive prototype for the top category”. The dream is to bring home that world title won 11 years ago by Kenny Roberts Jr. The oriental team will be regularly present in the other categories. Not only that, but Suzuki will continue to "offer its support in road races using production bikes, thus obtaining FIM homologation and collaboration with its distributors of development kits and components".
In short, as it stands There are 12 official bikes for next season, equally distributed between Ducati, Honda and Yamaha.
