Simoncelli's funeral, between Vasco's notes and endless applause

So much emotion and participation, which was also evident through the TV screen, yesterday during the funeral of Marco Simoncelli. In a packed church and in a country invaded by those who wanted to take part in the final farewell to the pilot from Coriano, the atmosphere that was created moved even those who knew little or nothing about Marco Simoncelli. Simoncelli's riders, colleagues and friends attended the funeral, including Valentino Rossi, Loris Capirossi, Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo and many others, all to show affection and closeness to both Marco and his family. Lots of emotion, but few tears, not because there was no pain to show, but simply because Marco wouldn't have liked them, he was someone who loved to laugh and who made a smile his business card.

Lots of people, balloons with number 58, the one that is imprinted on Simoncelli's motorbike, made to fly in the sky, many shirts, caps, banners and flags to remember the Sic, as everyone called him. Before the ceremony, many long applauses as Simoncelli's coffin, carried on the shoulders of his friends, crosses the threshold of the church. Throughout the ceremony, next to Marco's body there are two of his most significant motorbikes, one of which he kept in his room next to the bed.

At the exit of the church the great embrace of the crowd is touching, the coffin is placed in the centre, while the notes of "Sono solo noi" by Vasco Rossi, Marco's favorite song, and dad Paolo sits on the floor next to his son while holding little Martina in his arms. Among the most evocative images of the day there is also a hug from mother Rossella to Valentino Rossi. The words of his girlfriend Kate and Doctor Costa remind those present that Marco lives and will continue to do so inside the hearts of each of us for what he was able to convey to us.
