Scott launches the new MX 550 helmet: safe and "fresh"

Scott MX 550 – The American company launches a completely new helmet on the market, created to guarantee off-road motorcyclists maximum safety and the best possible comfort.

There are many peculiar features of this helmet that distinguish it from the competition. For Scoot, the main objective is to guarantee maximum protection, but, at the same time, give the motorcyclist a helmet that once worn causes discomfort.

For this reason, the stars and stripes company has focused a lot on internal ventilation, which keeps the head "cool". Taking advantage of knowledge in the aerodynamic field, an innovative system has been developed which allows the air, which enters from the large front slits and other strategic entrances, to completely envelop the shell, guaranteeing maximum ventilation and consequently excellent heat exchange. Studies on internal flows were conducted in a wind tunnel and compared with the main rival helmets and, from the data collected, the MX550 appears to have the best ventilation compared to the competition.

A fundamental point in the creation of the new MX 550 helmet was the search for the maximum possible safety. The American brand has introduced two innovative safety systems, to have maximum protection in the event of radial impacts (direct impacts to the head) and angular impacts (cause rotational violence that is transmitted to the brain).

For the first case of impacts, the MX 550 is equipped with Coneahead technology, essentially a protection placed in the shell, made of EPS and with different densities and geometries, which improve the impact protection of the helmet.

To improve safety in the event of angular impacts, the helmet is equipped with the technology called Mips Technology, i.e. a slip layer between the head and the helmet. It offers superior safety performance in the event of oblique impacts by reducing rotational violence transmitted to the brain.
