Motorcycle custom – A renowned Italian custom motorcycle company is moving to Jacksonville to open its first business in the United States.

The Italian designer Fabrizio “Sugar” Favre is known throughout Europe for its custom-built model-based motorcycles Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Triumph and BSA. Favre, certified as a master builder by the International Master Bike Builders Association, recently set up a new shop at Plaza 295 on 103rd Street in Jacksonville and a grand opening is scheduled for mid-January.

Although Jacksonville is not particularly known for custom motorcycles, Favre came to Florida in 1990 to compete in the annual Daytona Beach Rat Hole Custom Bike Show and subsequently a home was also found here. “People can come here all year round”Said Jeff Starke, president of the Master International Bike Builders Association, which is based in Jacksonville. “It is much less expensive to live and work here unlike what some might think. The recovery has been gradual in the motorcycle sector and in the custom motorcycle sector, in particular more and more people are trying to save on alternative forms of transport".
