Ducati, AMG wants to buy the Borgo Panigale motorcycle company?
Deal made: we have already spoken previously about the commercial relationship between the AMG sports division of the Stuttgart car manufacturer, Mercedes, and the motorcycle manufacturer from Borgo Panigale, in Emilia Romagna. No one, however, can and could imagine that this was a pre-nuptial contract, more than a simple agreement for mutual benefits. What am I saying? Easy: for a few days, numerous automotive publications have been wondering, in light of some rumours, whether this isn't the first step towards AMG's acquisition of Ducati. A full-blown wedding.
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer is today in the hands, for the most part, of Investindustrial Holdings (owned by Andrea Bonomi): the German partners, for now, will only remain as such and a hypothetical acquisition of Ducati will not take place until a few years from now , at least according to the sources: the right time to allow the commercial synergy born in the last few hours to consolidate: that is? Ducati will be alongside AMG in a series of initiatives, including international ones, which will allow greater visibility for both, while AMG has been awarded the title of official partner of Ducati Corse for the next MotoGP season.
Again according to those who know better than us, Ducati would be enthusiastic about the acquisition: AMG and Mercedes could fill the coffers of the motorcycle company with new funds: lifeblood, therefore, for investments in technology and global development. It wouldn't be the first German to launch into the two-wheel segment: BMW Motorradd descends directly from the first of Mercedes' competitors, BMW tout court. Well, we just have to wait for the future development of this Italian-German partnership. I would propose a survey: AMG in Ducati yes, AMG in Ducati no?
