Dainese takes to four wheels: it will collaborate with Horacio Pagani

The Italian company will participate in the production of the Huayra Roadster hood

Cristiano Silei: "Innovation is in Dainese's DNA, and the development of highly sophisticated technical solutions is the direct consequence of this. Creating something refined, and doing so in collaboration with a prestigious brand like Pagani Automobili, can only make us proud once again"

Dainese e Pagani have started a new collaboration to create an excellent product. Dainese has made its research and development department available to the Modena-based manufacturer with the aim of identifying and creating the best materials for the textile and structural parts of the canopy of its Roadster models.

An association of know-how between the two Italian brands, which leads to high-quality technical solutions worthy of cars such as the Pagani Huayra Roadster. "Innovation is in Dainese's DNA, and the development of highly sophisticated technical solutions is the direct consequence of this - he has declared Christian Silei, CEO of the Dainese Group -. Creating something sophisticated, and doing it in collaboration with a prestigious brand like Pagani Automobili, can only make us proud once again“. Inspired by the first flying machines designed by Leonardo - the Ornithopter - as well as some famous contemporary architectural and engineering works, the hood is an assembly of carbon fiber components with a high elastic modulus, developed by Pagani, connected via hinges machined from solid aluminum e titanium, which complement the technical fabric developed by Dainese. The Pagani fabric, as well as the structure, is the result of a joint development by Dainese and Pagani, who have committed themselves together to an obsessive search for perfection, both on a technical and aesthetic level. Dainese's enormous know-how in the world of technical fabrics has allowed the creation of an innovative material, made up of different layers of high-quality material waterproofed with technology developed ad hoc by the R&D department of the Vicenza group, such as to provide the desired balance in every single area between flexibility and resistance.

When closing the canopy, the fabric follows the folds of the structural members, thanks to the presence of predetermined fold areas, similar to an Origami, allowing the durability of the fabric over time and minimal bulk when stored in the car. Once mounted on the Huayra Roadster, the canopy offers great driving comfort and a unique look at the same time. “It was a great technical challenge to create the reserve canopy for the Huayra Roadster - he stressed Horacio Pagani, Chief Designer of Pagani Automobili -. With the aim of providing customers with a folding roof solution with minimum volume when stored in the car, the canopy was conceived as a lightweight and resistant tensile structure, in which each individual element contributes to the performance of the overall function, through its tension".
