5.000 Folds Winter – The Program

A research carried out by the English specialized magazine  Motor Cycle News  it says a lot about how the climate can influence the habits of motorcyclists, but... the 5.000 Winter Folds, younger sister of the now legendary 20.000 Folds about to celebrate its tenth anniversary, it is going in exactly the opposite direction. After the first and very successful experience in 2016, she chooses a long weekend in the heart of winter and invites motorcyclists not to be afraid of the cold and adverse weather conditions and in exchange will offer beautiful routes, careful and punctual organization and a lot of passion to share.

To the cry of “Only 6% of motorcyclists use their motorbikes all year round, we are proud to belong to that 6%!”, Daniele Alessandrini, President of the Moto Club Motolampeggio, presents the 5.000 Winter Folds, winter motorcycle raid scheduled from8 to 10 December in Tuscany, in Figline and Incisa Valdarno. Two stages are scheduled, taking advantage of the Bridge of the Immaculate Conception, for a total of approximately 350 kilometres.

The 5.000 Folds Winter Program 8-9-10 December 2017:

-The appointment for participants is set for Friday 8 December in Figline and Incisa Valdarno, at the Hotel Villa La Palagina where, from 12.00 to 16.00, the preliminary operations. Then Alessandrini and his staff will gather the members for the briefing and at 17.30pm (big news this year) the first stage will start. “It will be just under 60 km – anticipates the organizer – doable in about an hour and a half, with an additional element of difficulty represented by the night time and, presumably, also by the colder temperatures. Let's all do this navigation experiment in the dark together which still adds "pepper" to the event.".

-Saturday 9 December, at 8.00, again from the headquarters of the 5.000 Pieghe Winter 2017, will start the second stage: the distance is decidedly longer, around 280 km, discovering some of the most beautiful places in central-eastern Tuscany. The route is, of course, top secret, but Alessandrini lets loose a few indiscretions: “We will cross the length and breadth of Chianti and I am sure that even those who know that wonderful land will admit that they have traveled new roads and reached unexplored places”. The now tested formula of tourist raids, with breaks for a mid-morning snack and lunch, in this case the "most substantial" stop is planned in the marvelous Meleto Castle, an imposing structure originally from the 17.00th century, located in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. More generally, the itinerary will connect numerous castles and estates that ennoble the Chianti area. The arrival is scheduled for XNUMX pm in Piazza Marsilio Ficino, in the center of Figline, where the skill tests will also take place which, together with the exact respect of the routes, certified by stamp checks and selfies in mandatory points, will contribute to determine the raid ranking.

-La prizegiving will be held Sunday morning at 9.30; then the program will offer a guided tour of the ancient Villa Casagrande farm, already the residence of the Serristori counts in the 400s and today owned by the Luccioli family. The guide will be Simone Luccioli, a family member and historian, who, after a visit to the main floor of the estate, will offer a tasting of the farm's products; Furthermore, participants will be able to benefit from a 10% discount on the products purchased.
