Overall, in the month the volumes of the entire Italian 2-wheel market (registrations + 50cc) totaled 11.984 sales equal to +20,9% compared to August 2015. The month of August is worth on average 5% of annual sales, given that many dealerships are closed for holidays. From January to August 2016, registrations recorded 149.270 vehicles and a +12,2%, of which 89.052 scooters equal to +7,9% compared to the first 8 months of last year, and 60.218 motorbikes equal to +19,1% . The "fifties" are essentially on the same volumes as 2015 with 16.748 units and a slight decline of -1,1%. The progression of the first eight months of 2016 therefore highlights that a total of 166.018 two-wheeled vehicles were sold on the Italian market (registrations + 50cc) with an increase of +10,6% compared to January-August 2015. The analysis of scooters for displacement confirms the importance of the two main segments: the 125cc with 32.245 units and +11,6% and the 300-500cc with 28.452 units equal to +6,5%. The increase of the 150-200cc with 17.602 sales and a +5,3% was more limited than the 250cc which produced 3.375 vehicles and a +4%.

The volumes of maxi scooters over 500cc also increased, with 7.378 units marking a +6,5%. The figures for motorcycle registrations are all positive, where the 800-1000 cc sector is the most important with 18.652 units and a +21,4%. Followed by motorcycles over 1000cc which remain positive, but less than the sector average with 17.041 units, equal to +10,2%. Even the 650-750cc, with 10.643 bikes increased by +11,9%, while the 300-600cc bikes, with 7411 sales achieved a striking +40,9%. The performance of the 150-250cc models was good, with 1.754 bikes, and an increase of +12,4%. Finally, there is an encouraging recovery of the "entry level" 125cc models, which with 4.717 registrations, increase significantly by +38,1%. At the motorcycle segment level, the naked bikes dominate, totaling 21.575 units and a +21,4%, followed in order of importance by the enduros, with 19.571 units and a surge of +28,4%. At a distance we find touring motorbikes with 7.095 pieces and a +2,7%. Custom bikes were also positive, with 5.656 motorbikes, an increase compared to last year with +13,8%. Lower volumes for sports cars, with 3.199 units, and a slight decline of -1,8%. Finally, supermotards, accelerating with 2.284 bikes, equal to +39,2%.
