Breakout® Harley-Davidson® 2013, beware the predator

Aggressive style and strong personality

Il Breakout® Harley-Davidson® 2013 it is an urban predator. His swaggering gait is hard to ignore in traffic, his proud demeanor catches the attention of all other motorcyclists. The Breakout presents itself as a premium model in its segment, with distinctive finishes and components.

Stretched and low profile, the Breakout features a 240mm rear tire, visually balanced by a massive fork and short fenders. The line is accentuated by a streamlined fuel tank console and Drag handlebars. The transmission, Twin Cam 103™ engine and other components are accented with gleaming chrome and gloss black paint.

Like its acclaimed 2013 Breakout Custom Vehicle Operations™ (CVO™) predecessor, the Breakout features streamlined, compact styling designed to enhance the engine and tires.

In the words of Harley-Davidson Styling Manager Kirk Rasmussen “With the Breakout model we got to the essence of the motorcycle, that is, we placed the emphasis on the engine, transmission and tires”. “The black and chrome engine becomes the protagonist, while to maximize the impact of the tires we opted for short fenders. The large prominent tire also underlines what we wanted to communicate: the tough and
Breakout muscleman.”

Rasmussen also mentions the new “Gasser” rims, a Breakout exclusive. “Sixties and Seventies Gasser-style drag racing wheels have always been in our hearts,” continues Rasmussen. “The Breakout rims are loosely inspired by the classic ones, equipped with 10 semi-circular spokes. The special gloss black powder coating has been removed on the spokes
alternate and on the edge of the rim to highlight the aluminum underneath”:

The aluminum alloy oil tank, fork sliders, brake rotors, exhaust heat shields and handlebars are highlighted with a gloss black finish. “To lower the profile of the Breakout we positioned the speedometer on the handlebar risers – declares Rasmussen – and we completed the fuel tank with a strip of black leather
to cover the junction, as well as a chrome cover to hide the wiring. The handlebar has a new Drag-style curvature, to offer a more aggressive riding style."

The Softail frame mimics the clean lines of the hardtail frame of yesteryear, but uses rear suspension control provided by horizontally mounted spring preload adjustable shocks hidden between the frame tubes. The Breakout is equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and the standard Harley-Davidson anti-theft device.
